Green Valley was started by three 'agropreneurs' to add value to a farm produce like coconut, which comes with incredible versatility and nurturing abilities. Green Valley was founded to help the local farmers whom the merchants and middlemen exploited through unfair pricing, making the production process a non-viable option. The founders, who were from the agricultural background facing the problems first hand, came up with a unique solution in the form of a farm to fork business model that produced value-added agricultural products.
The venture was started in 2000 with the support of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Government of India. Our processing unit is located in the lush, serene, green valley of Kanjirapuzha Dam in Palakkad District, Kerala, the southern state of India, and thus earning the brand its name 'Green Valley'. It was a conscious call to set up the unit in the rural area to generate employment.
Our business model follows direct procurement of quality raw material (farm-grown) from the local farmers, ensuring quality input and remittance of fair price to the farmers. We produce two segments primarily – Conventional and Virgin. There is just something about knowing that an essential daily item you use is sourced, produced, assembled, and made locally by people you can identify with.
While Green Valley intended the farmers to be the primary beneficiaries of the business, the three founders strongly believed that what enters the kitchen enters your body and makes your heart and soul. Green Valley and its people are highly passionate about quality and keep away any adulterant - chemicals, sulfur, parabens, artificial fragrance, silicone, smoke, dirt, etc. at all stages. This is the key factor that has helped us build a broad base of happy customers within and outside the country, organically without promotion and paid advertisement.
